Blessed Sacrament Meditation

by | Sep 4, 2025 | Across the Ages, Presence

We’ve all had those days…thankful to have a space of time for prayer in the midst of a hectic day. It may be in a Blessed Sacrament chapel, a spare room in your home, or even sitting in your car. But your mind goes blank…how do I start the conversation with God? Or the opposite…your mind is flooded with so many issues, people, and situations that you can’t sort through it to begin.

This beautiful prayer pamphlet, A Meditation Before the Blessed Sacrament, gives you everything you need to have that conversation with God. In the early 1980’s, Norris Songe came across a tattered piece of paper with this beautiful contemplative wording called A Meditation Before the Blessed Sacrament. He had found it in the attic of his father’s home shortly after his death!  Norris had an overwhelming desire to share this beautiful find.

First, it began with hand written copies being distributed to family, friends and co-workers, then a typed page and from there it grew. Within a short period of time, Songe and others formed the non-profit Blessed Sacrament Pamphlets to distribute this to others. It was also at that time that they decided it might be best to formulate a pamphlet, so they did, then added the Act of Contrition, and it remains the same pamphlet today. Songe’s friend, Father Harold Cohen, SJ (RIP), Director and Founder of A Closer Walk Ministries, began to talk about it on his nationally televised show on  EWTN and also facilitated ecclesiastical approval for the pamphlet. Unfortunately, all records were destroyed in hurricane Katrina but the pamphlet remains. Mrs. Colleen DeLucca now runs the ministry.

This wonderful prayer is provided with permission from the Blessed Sacrament Pamphlets organization. Copies can be ordered for 25 cents each/$25 per 100, or you can use the attached to print your own copies. Orders with check can be mailed to the address listed at the bottom of the act of contrition.
