People don’t die for a cracker!

by | Jun 27, 2025 | Across the Ages

People don’t die for a cracker. They die for a Savior. In 2000 years since Jesus gave us His Church, the known and unknown martyrs who gave their ‘all’ for Him is countless. Pope Leo just recognized another 50 as martyrs.   And they died not for the concept of a savior but for THE Savior Himself. Saints like Tarcisius were willing to die in order to bring the very real Jesus in the Eucharist to other Catholics. Even those starving for physical food wouldn’t risk that for a single cracker.

Today is the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is a celebration of God’s love for us. Many people consecrate themselves individually to Jesus as well as consecrating their home by conducting a Sacred Heart enthronement. Both of these are explained on our Sacred Heart Devotion page. A home enthronement renders the home an extension of the tabernacle in the Catholic church sanctuary, with Jesus as King of the home. Now, to believe this you must first believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in that Eucharist in the tabernacle! As God would have it, not only did we celebrate this mysterious gift of the Eucharist with last Sunday’s the Solemnity of The Holy Body and Blood of Christ, but Monday also kicked off National Religious Freedom week and it ended with today’s feast day! The Sacred Heart of Jesus feast day is the perfect complement to our Corpus Christi celebrations.

Today, give your heart to the heart of Jesus. Rest in His, and let Him change your life.

Our Savior’s Sacred Heart

My brethren, the entire world has been consecrated to My Sacred Heart. My Heart beats with mercy for you. I am at your side waiting to give you My hand of peace to lift you out of your troubles and into the new life found in Me. I promise this same peace to all who will accept and return My love: families, congregations, communities, and nations. Mine is the Heart of peace that will change the world.

Dear Jesus, I so much want this peace for myself and my loved ones. It is only this peace that brings true hope, a hope for increased love in our lives today and for an eternity lived in love hereafter. I will take Your hand and never let go of it again. Amen.

I will give peace to their families. I will comfort them in all their trials.

–Promise of our Lord to Saint Margaret Mary

Henceforth we purpose to lead a life like Yours so that amongst us may flourish the virtues for which You did promise peace on earth, and for this end we will banish from our midst the spirit of the world which You abhor so much.
