At first glance, it may seem odd to look at the scripture of the woman at the well in conjunction with celebrating our angels. But combined with a homily from St. John Chrysostom, and the help of our Guardian angel, we too can accept the transforming love of God.
It is not an exaggeration to say that there have been few times in history where our own holiness is so desperately needed. The way to Jesus is through Mary, and the moment to begin to know her is now.
Pondering the nativity of Mary brings forth the truth that with God nothing, is insignificant.
This Labor day, consider setting aside the expectations and ambitions demanded by this culture of death, and use God’s Truth as the benchmark of success. Then surely, by the example of our lives and Grace from our prayers, we can become a nation that defines success not by rising from fileroom clerk to Supreme Court Justice but by our love of every human being from conception to natural death, and in every circumstance.
