The Night of Miracles

The one and very same God who built the mountains, anchored the seas, and lit the heavens with stars will be born this very night. Yet He, the light of Glory, hid His glory and became small. He did not seek fame nor act in grandiose ways. He sought to hold close those who will embrace Him in their heart.

Becoming small again

The Advent of the Christ child has finally begun! It is a season to grow in profound understanding of God’s “smallness” by joining Him in becoming little ourselves. He belongs in the palace of our heart yet instead is relegated to the outskirts of our life as we busy ourselves with worldly things. Advent is the time to make Him the center of our life each day and send worldly attachments into exile.

Who am I?

After completing an exercise in self-concept and self-identity I asked, Who am I? Contrary to what the world teaches, I am not my accomplishments; rather, those are manifestations of God’s gifts to me. I’m just me; that’s who I am. And I’m fine with that.

Building Capacity for God

When we stop caring about things that don’t really matter, we have greater capacity to care about those things that do, particularly the people who God has placed in our lives. And we become that ‘incalculable force” that increases the amount of good in the world. 😊

The martyrdom of witness

These are turbulent times, leaving us shocked and seeking answers. Too often we seek those answers from popular social media personalities, hoping to find like-minded people and through them find grounding again. These range from openly communist Catholics to speakers leading followers into moral schism, all relying upon their own reasoning and pitching what sounds to be a logical ‘right’ opinion to be followed. But what does the Church actually teach? That the answer lies in our individual holiness not our logical opinion of the situation.
